I (Dave) grew up in Horseshoe Bay, British Columbia. Fifteen minutes from the bustling metropolis of Vancouver, Horseshoe Bay is the gateway to Howe Sound and the Sunshine Coast. There is a train track and the sea to sky highway which snakes it's way up to Whistler, the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Horseshoe Bay is also the location of a BC Ferries terminal with ferries taking you to beautiful Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and the lower mainlands own throwback to the 60's, Bowen Island.

So I thought I could test out our new camera, and while doing so take some shots of my hometown.

Our new camera is a Pentax K-5 with a 18mm - 135mm lens. We got this camera for its water resistant qualities, which should come useful on the humid boat environment, and because it received pretty good reviews on most of the blogs I read. Oh, and it was on sale. Hopefully we will get better at using this tool, and we can provide everyone with a wonderful visual glimpse into our travels.
